FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT CAN ROUNDWOOD TIMBER FRAMING BE USED FOR?

It is an incredibly versatile form of building. As we are working from the round we are not restricted to cuboid forms, we can give you a build with any number of sides. For some examples of applications have a look through our Applications page.

IS ROUND WOOD TIMBER FRAMING EXPENSIVE?

Quite the opposite! Due to the unprocessed nature of the timber we use it is less expensive than milled timber. All of the machining is done in our workshop making this form of construction very efficient and cost effective. Please see the Pricing page for guide prices for several completed projects.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

A Roundwood timber frame will last indefinitely if kept dry. We design the frame so that the timber is kept out of the ground and protected from the elements.

If the timber will get wet occasionally we ensure all the joints can drain and that all areas are ventilated so it drys quickly, this is the key to designing for longevity.

All this is backed by our 15-year no-rot guarantee.

HOW SUSTAINABLE IS ROUNDWOOD TIMBER FRAMING?

Sustainability is incredibly important to us and we consider our impact on the environment in every aspect of the design and manufacture process.

We source our raw material from within the UK and usually within 100 miles of our workshop. We go straight from the raw material to finished project so waste and transport are absolutely minimal.

Our new One-fill Insulated Panels not only make for a very efficient, low-energy building once complete, but are also low-impact and sustainable to manufacture compared to most other insulation solutions.
